The Wraith's Medallion - Once Upon A Time

I'm absolutely delighted to share this with you after about a fortnight of working on it!

Ever since my chipped cup I've been wondering what my next prop would be to make, and since I saw the medallion I couldn't think of anything more perfect. With my new-found jewellery-making hobby and my love of Sculpey, it seemed like a brilliant project to get started on.

So: the medallion piece itself was fashioned out of a warm brown Sculpey, rolled with a pin, layered, and then the runic design cut and moulded on. The attachment bits at the side were moulded over metal jumprings I inserted to keep the right thickness. Some of the texture on the face was done but crunching up tinfoil and gently pressing to give that pitted, antiqued look. The dangly bits at the end of the two chain (which I got to kind of play with looks-wise, are there are few clear pictures) were shaped in Sculpey and finished with two filigree leaf charms pressed into each side, with a thin jumpring at the top for easy attachment.

After baking, I painted over the clay with a fimo metallic powder in gold, until it looked lovely and shiny and new. And then I brushed lightly over with a bronzed powder and begain painting. I used brown paint lightly, let it dry and then rubbed to achieve the affect shown in the pictures, which was supposed to age the piece to be a little closer to the look in the show.

The chain was attached to the top and the two extender parts at the base of the medallion.


Anyway, I'm actually really pleased with how it turned out - not perfect, but another piece to add to my ever-growing OUAT collection! Hope you like it!
